How to reach Bhimtal

By Flight:

Pant Nagar Airport is the nearest airbase to Naukuchiatal which is almost 70 km away. The drive takes almost two - two and a half hour. Taxis can easily be availed outside the airport. Dehradun is another option and it takes almost five hours to reach the desired destination via taxi.

By Road:

The state-owned buses (USRTC) and private buses run regularly from Uttarakhand and its neighbouring states. The intra-city bus services are also quite frequent connecting Naukuchiatal with other major hill stations of the state. You can easily access this hill station from Nainital, Almora, Kathgodam via bus or taxi.

By train:
Kathgodam, which is at a distance of nearly 40 km from the village, acts as the nearest railway station. It is well connected to all the major cities like Bangalore, Shimla, Delhi, Kolkata, Kanpur, Dehradun and Jammu etc. Cabs and buses are easily available outside the station.

Clear water of lakes surrounded by thick forest and voice of birds is a wonderful experience. Hill near the lake known as Hidimba Parvat. It gets its name from demon Hidimba of Mahabharata. Vankhandi Maharaj, a monk and environmentalist lives on the hill now, and has created a sanctuary for the wild animals around the hill. The area is known as Vankhandi Ashram.
