Chilapata is a dense jungle area near the Jaldapara WIldlife Sanctuary in the Eastern Dooars located 28 Km from Alipurduar. Chilapata jungle is well spread out along the banks of rivers. Bania and Torsha that bring in the fresh monsoon alluvial and hense supporting and protecting the grassland ecosystem and the diversity of flora and fauna of the park. Tourist can properly plan their Dooars Tour packages for visiting Chilapata forest and its nearby wildlife sanctuaries. Chilapata is the home of elephants, bison, Cheetal, Sambar, deer, one-horned rhinoceros, leopards and wild pigs. Apart from this animals at least 20 species of snakes are found in Chilapata is also a birding paradise as it hosts home of beautiful birds like Shikara, Coastal eagle, Patridge, Pied hornbill, fishing eagle, jungle fowl, and more. Tourists can also visit Nalraja Garh, fort of Nal Kings built during Gupta period. The most memorable moments of visiting Chilapata is the forest Safari in the forest of Chilapata. The thrilling safari of Chilapata lasts for around one and a half hour. During the safari the tourists can spot bison, deer, barking deer etc. and more than 180 species of snakes.

By Road

The connectivity of Chilapata with nearby cities via road is wuite good. Siliguri , which is a major nearby city, is approximately 150 km driving distance away. A rented car will help you reach the forest from Siliguri within 04 hours.

By train

There are two railway station near to Chilapata. Alipurduar station which is approx. 40 Km from Chilapata and Coach Behar station is approx 45 Km. Local taxis are easily available from both this stations.
