Sakleshpur is a hill station which lies in the western ghats mountain range, in the state of Karnataka. The hill station is surrounded by slopes covered with coffee, tea and spice plantations. It has a temperate climate surrounded with lofty green hills full of pepper, coffee, cardamom, areca plantations. This crops contribute largely to the economy of Sakleshpur. The Place also boosts many historical monuments and temples that makes it heaven on earth. The moonmoon season are the best time to visit, but tourists can visit throughout the year. The name Shakala is a sanskrit word means " Bhinnavada or Birukada ". In the past a Shivalinga was found broken, this Linga was called Shakleshwar by the local people. Later on a temple was also built and the town was thus called Sakaleshpur. Trekkers can also enjoy trekking at Kumar Parvat, also called KP which is a challenging hike. Tourists also visit pilgrimage sites in Sakleshpur such as Ayappa Swamy Temple, Sri Sakleshwar Swamy Temple, Betta Byraveshwara Temple, Shettihall Rosary Church. For those tourist who loves waterfalls can visit number of stunning waterfalls such as Murkannu Gudda and Hadlu Waterfall, Magajahalli Waterfalls etc.

By Flight

Mangalore is the nearest airport which is approx 130 Km from Sakleshpur. Tourists can avail rented cabs or can prebook cabs.

By Road

There are also other means of transport on regular stretches managed by the KSRTC transport administration . It also connects important cities like Bengaluru, Mangalore and Hassan.

By train

Sakleshpur has its own railway station. Rented cabs are available at the railway station.
